I sent a tent I had sold on eBay through Parecels2go through Hermes as it was so much cheaper than Royal Mail. The parcel has been lost. This is an 11kg parcel!!
How can you loose a parcel this big and this heavy? That's why I did not take out insurance. AND why should I. I don't take out insurance when I call in a plumber or take my car in for service, I assume they are competent enough to carry out the job and they have their own insurance to cover any issues that are their fault. Why should I pay extra to cover the incompetence of Hermes.
In addition when things do go wrong Hermes will not talk to you as it was booked through a third party and Parels2go appear to treat lost parcels as an everyday occurrence. I was asked to fill out a claim form even before they started trying to find my missing parcel. I even paid extra for a text on delivery and inserted the address label inside the parcel as recommended in case the outside label became detached. I intend to cancelled my Parcels2go account and will never use Hermes again. I note from other review sites that Hermes has regularly been voted worst parcel carrier in the UK My experience certainly backs that up. In hindsight I should have done more research before I used them and the old adage is true, you get what you pay for.
