“Although you can use the Marshall AS50R acoustic amp...”

written by Clive Melton on 30/10/2006

Good Points
The AS50R is dead easy to use. You don't need a Phd in Sound Engineering to get the best out of it, and it has nice styling. It helps to make your acoustic guitar actually sound like an acoustic guitar, and it doesn't weigh half a ton.

Bad Points
It could have done with a mid EQ pot and phanton power on one channel at least. I wish you still got the amp stand.

General Comments
Although you can use the Marshall AS50R acoustic amp to amplify your stuff in a small venue, and I do mean small, I tend to use mine as a personal on-stage monitor. I have it pointing straight at me, (I play seated) set the amp to the sound I want, set the eq's to zero (I use a boss for eq), set the chorus and reverb controlled by a foot-swicth, then send the whole lot to the pa via the di output, giving the sound engineer instructions to leave the sound alone, except for any feedback. This way I can hear exactly what the guitar sounds like at a volume I can hear, without annoying the rest of the band. Try this, it's great!!
