“worst package/service ever paid for !!!! ”

written by robw03 on 10/08/2015

Where to begin.......

I've literally just got back from the worst stag do you could imagine.

To say it was cheap and nasty, grossly overpriced, massively mis-sold and organised by these people who constantly moved the goal posts and literally held me to ransom for additional fees would be a starting point.

I used Chillisauce as a friend of mine had decided he wanted a stag do away from our local town so opted for a company who could provide a one stop package to simplify the booking /arranging of.

The package in question was priced at £118 for one night's hotel accommodation, footgolf, an hour pool session and included a free entry to a selected night club.

The hotel in question being the Ibis Budget Hotel. Having not stayed in an Ibis Budget hotel I had no idea what to expect. I can honestly say I've stayed at hostels with better facilities on previous stag do's.

To say it was minimalistic would be an understatement ( I would have no problem with this if this was reflected in the price).

Since returning from the stag do I have looked at the costing of the package/service provided. For the weekend in question i was given a retrospective quote of £48 for the room (£24 per person). For this hotel at this price I'm at complete odds to understand the cost of the rest of the package weekend provided.

The "hours pool session" mentioned in the package description and being one of the points that the package included in the price, was not an hours pool session- it was a reservation for a single pool table of which would have to be paid for. How a reservation van be mentioned or used as a selling point is behold me.

The Footgolf was £5 per adult!!! ( I checked this on the Footgolf website and saw it on the noticeboard at the venue.

There was a free entry to Tiger Tiger included before 11pm again having checked prices this is worth £10 per person.

So with the hotel costing £24 per person, the Footgolf £5 per person and the nightclub entry valued at £10 per person this gives a total cost of £39 leaving £79 unaccounted for.

Whilst I totally understand and appreciate they have a business to run and expect to run at a profit, I would not expect that profit to be a 200%+ profit per person.

Which leads me on to the deposits paid. I believe there were 3 maybe 4 deposits at £25 (£75/£100) that were kept. The people who couldn't make it didn't drop out at the last minute but at least 2 months before, before the hotel or event was even booked. Chillisauce simply explained that it didn't matter and they were non refundable (which I could accept if they hadn't already made the 200%+ profit per person already).

Then there is the small matter of a £60 additional fee demanded for us not meeting the minimum group requirement of the event (at the venue they confirmed this was total nonsense and there was no minimum group size). This was dropped on me at the last minute once everyone had paid in full.

The Footgolf co - ordinator confirmed there was not a minimum sized group and could not see how the additional £60 fee was warranted or justified.

We played in two groups of 4 with the co - ordinator flitting between both groups. The additional £60 fee was reminiscent of a ransom. Chillisauce knew the deposits and full amounts had been paid and effictively held me to ransom  for the additional  £60 with the threat of terminating the entire weekend.

I have just run a basic Google search on Chillisauce and come up with a whole host of forums and consumer rights pages where the complaints are nearly a replica of mine.

Please, please, please do not use these idiots. The 5* reviews found on here are extremely fishy and wouldn't surprise me if a member(s) of chillisauce actually wrote them.
