Our waitress hardly spoke a word of English, it was difficult to communicate, especially when it came to desert. As we were there to celebrate a friends birthday, we envisaged that we would receive a large birthday cake with 17 candles, as this is the age he had reached. Therefore, you can imagine the sheer disappointment on our faces when a skimpy single scoop of 'ice cream' arrived with a shmatty looking 'candle', which instantly lost its light after the first blow. The portion of dough-balls and nutella dip was reminiscent of World War 2 rations. Furthermore, the ratio of concentrate to lemonade was insufficient, leading to a debilitated taste in ones mouth.
One thing that must be mentioned; the ambiance, acoustics and lighting were splendid. It was a really heart-warming atmosphere, adding to the romantic nature of our birthday meal. I would return to Street Lane, however to the fish and chip shop next door. For desert I would consider the Domino's cookies portion. By Sophie and Josh.
