I use the Kingston branch fairly frequently, interspersed with online retailers and other cycle shops. Generally my experience has been really positive with staff who are very happy to help out and have done emergency repairs on the spot a couple of times, once without even charging. I've also found them to be very helpful in refunding/exchanging defective equipment/clothing without any quibbles.
Prices often vary wildly depending on what you're after and when. They seem to do some good deals on "last years model" bikes and carry some great brands, but they really don't appear to know much about fitting and sizing so you need to do your own research before you go there and don't get swayed by a salesman. They're great at letting you have a test ride which many other shops avoid. When they have items on sale you can get some excellent deals, but other times it can be 25%+ cheaper on Wiggle, although they can be open to a spot of price matching if you ask!
Staff turnover feels quite high and on a few occasions I've had people who really don't know what they're doing. Overall I would always choose an Evans over a Halfords, but I would always build up a relationship with a good independent bike shop to service my bike in and rely on Wiggle for most of the bigger purchases unless Evans have a special offer on.
