“Atrocious - not a driving school at all.”

written by Shawnc130 on 31/07/2015

There's a reason RED is cheaper than schools like AA or BSM - it's not an actual driving school. So, I booked and paid for 2 lessons (both 2 hours) and we got an email confirming the first lesson at 12pm. At 12.20pm, and after several unanswered calls to his mobile, he still didn't show up. We then called RED, and it transpired that, despite what we were told, the instructor had not confirmed the lesson with the company. The company therefore had no idea whether he would show up or not, something they failed to inform us even though we had paid. We also learnt that the instructors are in fact not attached to the company but are independent, and simply receive emails from the company (which they don't necessarily respond to). We then told the company that we would want the 2 lessons refunded because he failed to show up and we wanted no further involvement with such a poorly organized company, particularly when I had set aside time in my day for this lesson. They initially persisted in offering other lessons, but we firmly responded that we wanted nothing to do with the company anymore. They then said we would be refunded within 7 days. It does not take 7 days to process a refund, so we insisted they refund us immediately. If this refund process is long drawn (as other reviews here have stated), I shall consider writing another review here about that. AA might be more pricey, but at least its instructors show up.
