Good Points
Comfort, weather protection.
Bad Points
Apalling build quality. How do they get away with it?
General Comments
Bought the Piaggio X9 500 new in 2002. Serviced regularly by main dealer, at great cost. Took out extended warranty (just as well). Problems: flaking paintwork, Dash faulty, stand pump leaked, PICS not worth having, poor quality reception. Stand doesn't always 'lock' in place causing bike to fall over. Exhaust rotted in less than 18 months (painted every month to make it last that long. Both wheels replaced due to corrosion (Piaggio questioned whether the bike had been serviced, what has that to do with corrosion from the inside of the wheel, dealers are not that thorough. The rear wheel was so corroded round the valve that you could pull it out with your fingers. Forks corroded, Piaggio not interested. Certain tyre makes do not last 2,000 miles on the rear. Rectifier failed frying battery and stranding me. Numerous electrical faults. The usual sticking brake callipers requiring weekly attention. Rear suspension adjusters corroded away to nothing. Bike weaves at slow speed.
Decided to trade it in, guess what? nobody wants it, offered £400 in PX for £7000 motorbike, what a joke!!
Been riding for 30+ years and have a reputation for keeping my machines in excellent condition but losing the battle with this one.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING ONE
