“Poor set up with certain things being easily fixed. ”

written by BarryKirkham on 14/07/2015

We have just come home from our 2nd hols in shearings hotel. We spent a week there and it was not as nice as our previous stay at the other one.We do the drive down one's and we have to pay extra money to park in the car park they use,why is this, do we not pay enough for our holiday without being penalised by this. The hotel staff were pretty good all told but first thing I found strange was at breakfast when asked what I wanted I asked for porridge and was told I had to fetch it myself, then when we wanted toast we also had to go and do this ourselves in a nmachine, queue up and wait for this as every one wanted toast with breakfast,i thought I was on a holiday to be served and looked after by staff,it was not a self catering break we had payed for.Next is the lifts which were forever playing up,which is not the best thing when there is only 1 which carries 8 persons and one the holiday makers called THE COFFIN,these had to serve 4 floors in the one hotel. The hotel was very hot and humid all the week we were there with no airconditioning to note,no windows to open down stairs were people spent there time and there was no response from the hotel management supplying any form of help with fans, apart for the workers behind the bar area and reception area, they had them, every holiday person said how poor it was. There was no comfy sitting areas of any sort just cheep leather couches and chairs that stuck to you as it was so hot all the time inside the hotel. They had 1 TV in the lobby area which was in the small room that did the afternoon lunch and teas but you could not get in there for a drink or food at times as it was filled with people watching the TV,why not have the TV in the foyer area like other of your hotels do.The main thing for us was the heat it was unbearable and even more so when you are elderly. Will start looking at other hotels away from Shearings as I think we as car drive down holidays must get deals with other hotels/companies for around the same price or not to much extra.Very dissatisfied.
