“Oops, no stock control?”

Ordered a bed frame in the July 2015 Clearance sale. Was a fantastic deal - too good to be true as it turns out. Also ordered an accompanying piece of furniture and arranged for carpet fitter to come out from John Lewis so we could get the carpet done before the bed arrived. A few days later and email arrives telling us they can't fulfil the order for the bed. All very odd - how much sale stock you have to get rid of is normally something stores have a good handle on, that's why there are sales surely? We ended up cancelling everything else.

I also ordered some expensive chocolates online from John Lewis for a birthday present just a couple of month ago. With expensive chocs the packaging is really important, its all part of the appeal - but it arrived ripped and must have been ripped before sent as they'd stuck their internet shopping label over part of the rip, as if to hold it down. What could I do? Birthday the next day - I just had to apologise for the ripped box.

Disappointed, John Lewis is so good so often, but like many large companies, they have so much business they stop caring for their customers.
