“Book direct with the hotel - cheaper.”

My wife bought this as a gift for me at Christmas at a cost of £108.
This is the 3rd year she has done this and the decline in standard and choice has been alarming.

Firstly let me state that the choices available are NOT "Unique Places to Stay".
There is nothing unique about any of them.

When you open the present and look through the choices it is clear that if you live further north than Birmingham then you have 2 choices:
1. Pick from a VERY limited array of hotels and B&B's.
2. Drive hours and hours getting to somewhere in the south and back again spending most of your break on the motorway.

Furthermore, hotel after hotel has restrictions.
1. Not weekends (that's the favourite!)
2. Not holiday periods.
3. Ridiculous other restrictions on dates at no particular time of year.

Then to add insult to injury:

We decided to make a full weekend at our chosen B&B using the £108 voucher for Friday night.

We only got charged £59 for Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we could have gone for both nights for the same cost as what we paid for the damn voucher for just 1 night had we booked on our own.

The B&B was good value by the way for £59.

No complaints there only with "Unique Places to stay".

Moral of the story:

Pick a place to stay and book direct. The hotelier gets a far better deal than dealing with this company and for the purchaser you save a fortune.

DO NOT BOOK THIS VOUCHER.
