“Been waiting since March for an offer. ”

written by Maria.c.g on 28/06/2015

We applied for a mortgage through our Mortgage advisor in March. At the end of April they came back and said they wanted proof of Child Benefit which took a few weeks to come through.
At the beginning of June we still had no idea who the lender was going to be. But we saw a house and asked our broker how much we could borrow and he wrote us a certificate of lending. So we put an offer on the house. Its a repossession so the conditions are that we exchange in 4 weeks. Broker said this was no problem.
We still had no idea who our lender was going to be. Eventually the estate agents said it was Santander(Abbey) and then I mananged to get an illustration off the broker.
We are due to exchange in 8 days and still haven't received an offer and the valuation still hasn't been done. (We are only borrowing 38% of house purchase.)
I'm getting worried as we have to be out of our house in 3 weeks time and after looking at reviews wonder how long they actually take. (The intermediaries website says they are turning applications around in 14 days. But so far we are over 3 months in with no idea whether we will be offered a mortgage. I wish we had gone straight to my local bank instead of using this broker who we have used several times before with no problems.
