“Allow extra time”

Both Calais ferry and Lille train station offices have remote car storage areas, so have a bit more time up your sleeve to transact your business and be on your way. Costs are roughly on par with other companies. Calais' office(2 months old) is on the 'outside' of the terminal building and was not in my ('14 manufactured) sat nav (25.6.15) - get precise directions (or have their phone number and a phone (!!) handy). The car (Opel Astra - diesel manual) was perfect for the job:; good for the main roads (90-130 km/hr), not too wide for narrow streets, fitted two large suitcases plus bags. Would I change anything? I prefer the new breed of AMTs - and I drive professionally. On the other side of the road!
Anyone considering hiring a car to drive on the other side to what they're used to, should not worry - you get used to it surprisingly quickly. Just wrap a rubber band around the wiper function stalk though!!
