“What has happened in the last 3 to 4 years”

OH DEAR. What has happened to them recently? I was told 2 weeks ago that my glasses would be ready in 2 weeks and that it was not uncommon at this time of year for the wait to be only one week. SO yesterday, after 2 weeks and no phonecall I contacted them to be told that My wait would be AT LEAST 3 weeks and that this was quite normal as they have to send the order to a laboratory to be made up.
Well Mr.. Vision Express, every other company has to do the same and generally manages to fulfil an order within 2 weeks. A poll amongst friends seem to suggest that VE takes longest.
I may be cynical but I expect the shop thought that if they told the truth about delivery times I might have gone elsewhere to have the prescription made up. They would have been correct. Maybe its just a Bournemouth thing. I just hope the glasses are as good as they used to be! Next time its an independent.
UPDATE 3weeks after ordering and no glasses so a trip to the shop. Nonono they said I had got it all wrong and delivery is 15 WORKING days. This is clearly rubbish. Anyway I went back every day for 3 days and was told lies and untruths,.
IT now turns out that the glasses have been sent out by the manufacturers but nobody knows where they were delivered to. in other words they are lost.
Still waiting but did get all my money back and will get the specs if and when they can track them down. And of course I was made to feel it was all my fault. Will you risk it next time - I will not.

Similar thing happened to a friend - Needed one new lens as other was damaged. 5 weeks and wrong lens came back. Its now well over 7 weeks and this morning a phone call said they didn't know when they would be available as lenses are made in ASIA - yes ASIA. now all the delays make sense. Trouble is my friends frames were very very expensive and would not have used VE if he had known they would be sent so far. 2 years ago they lost them and had to send to France to get a replacement pair. All this and they have the nerve to insist on full payment when ordering. FORGET THIS COMPANY
There are good private optitions out there who actually charge less for mugh more service, speed and quality, Just ask who makes the lenses.
