We have just returned from a break at Primrose Valley haven park and were all very diappointed. We paid around £300 for a 3 night break. Everthing on the site was overpriced and there didn't seem to be any activities that were included in the holiday price, other than the small swimming pools which only made money on the lockers.
Even the bingo is a rip off! There is a prize bingo every night that must collect atleast a few hundred quid, however the prize for the full house must have cost less than a tenna!
The boat hire is also a rip off. It is not like other holiday parks where you have a small funfair included in the price, you have to buy tokens and each ride costs a certain amount of tokens. The cheapest ride we saw cost 3 tokens - which is £1.50 but this was just for the baby rides. The other rides took more tokens. Some rides had to be paid for cash and didnt take tokens. There is a small crazy golf area which costs £2 per person - so a family of 5 would cost £10! Other funfair activities like go-karts were ridiculously high priced.
The only activities we saw during our stay seemed to be the arcades which also cost a fortune and you spend a long time looking for the members of staff when the machine eats your money - because alot of the machines were broken.
There is a convenience store onsite but if you have already booked to go to this boring operpriced place, i would suggest taking absolutely everything you might need with you because it is so overpriced. We took our own food but needed a few things during our stay and easily spent £200 in this shop which would have cost £50 in a normal shop.
Our van wasn't too bad but the toilet room stunk and the previous guests left nuts on the sofa around the dining table. Our fridge/freezer kept turning itself off during the nights for some reason so our frozen food was ruined. The only other sall things wrong with the van was that the tin opener and the toilet light didnt work.
When you first get there you park at the reception area, then naturally head for the big sign that says reception, but then you get sent around to another building where there are arcades and a couple of pubs. You have to go into one of the pubs to check -in (so that you buy drinks while you wait a long time). However, on the way into this building, you will be stopped by a security guard asking for your pass - which you cant get until you have checked in???? You will have been given a check-in time on your booking form. When they say its time for the 4pm check in, the queue runs from the stage area, right up past the bar then around the room so i hope you like standing! This is just so disorganised and wouldn't happen at any decent holiday park.
If you order anything from the onsite resturaunts, be prepared to wait over an hour for your meal to arrive at your table - to make you buy more drinks maybe??
All in all we had a crap time, our 6 year old cried to go home, our 14 year old thought we took him there to punish him.
When we booked up, we had seen the advert on tv stating that it was value for money and we thought it looked similar to a Butlins site but it is anything but.
If you are considering booking to go here I would seriously consider booking for Butlins or Flamingoland instead, it may cost a little more to book but you are getting value for money and it will end up saving you a fortune in the long run.
There are some nice places to visit in yorkshire but this place brings it down.
