The assessment process is flawed. I should have free insurance via Lloyds Bank. I am assessed annually by AXA. The message on their telephone states the conditions which are non-chargable. Under-active gland is once of these. I had a partial thyroidectomy in 1990 which renders the thyroid gland under-active. They charge me for this. The reason they give is the it because I have had an operation. They state that I had a goitre. This is not written on my medical file. This is their interpretation. They asked whether I have been advised to take medication for high cholesterol. I said yes and they are charging me because I do not take a statin. My GP stated that she would not prescribe this as it is unnecessary. They still say I have to pay because I have been advised by a nurse. The nurse cannot prescribe one and my GP would only monitor me as any other patient my age.
I have raised a complaint with Lloyds Bank. I spent 70 minutes on the telephone for which they are reimbursing me and at the end of this process said they were putting me through to Axa and also gave me another number to ring at Lloyds Bank.
I am disgusted with AXA and also with Lloyds Bank who in my view should resolve this as my contract is with them and not with AXA.
