“Europcar UK - A Disappointment to the Europcar Brand”

I have used Europcar in Europe on a few occasions mainly because of the price which is lower than competitors because of 1) you have LIMITED mileage & 2) SUPER HIGH EXCESS but if price is a factor you just need to be careful and I have never had any issues with Europcar in the E.U however my first experience with them in the UK was by far from smooth or easy. I rented out of Heathrow airport because they were open 24H and i needed a car very late at night (11pm) anyway arrived at the car station off the airport there was 1 person in front of me and i had to wait almost 45 minute, the desk staff are BEYOND SLOW if this was the middle east and i complained they would all be fired! ok so the next step i finally got served we went through the details etc. and it came to the options, i declined everything including the waiver now lets see if you can do the maths... Car hire per day £16, car hire excess £14 per day.... is that logic?? they wanted almost the full rate of the car in the insurance excess per day. The young asian boy at the counter really pushed it on me...saying if you even get a scratch on it 1mm we will charge the excess £1000. I thought it was 2015 and these pushy fake sales techniques finished. My excess was £750 not the so claimed £1000 and ANOTHER THING THAT REALLY GOT ME WAS HE SAID IF YOU GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT AND THE OTHER DRIVER CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY YOU WILL STILL LOOSE YOUR £1000 AND WONT GET IT BACK!!!!! Europcar headoffice confirmed this was a lie!! you only loose your excess if your at fault for causing the accident! They still charge you the excess but once insurance is settled as NOT your fault they refund you!!!!
