Good Points
Children able to set it up with just a little support. They were able to clearly see burrowing worms. Lots of questions which led to learning.
Easy to maintain for a few days.
Bad Points
Worry of overwatering. At one point we thought we had drowned the worms! The cardboard sleeve/shade can get soggy.
Worms don't exactly munch at speed so you need to be patient.
General Comments
About to embark on creating a wormery again with my class of 6,7 and 8 year old children.
Last time it was a very successful project. Really brought the worms close to the children.
When we had finished we carefully chose a suitable place to release them into the "wild". I felt this opportunity had given children a real understanding of the life of an earthworm.
Two years later the children still remember their experience!
