Our broker advised us to try Accord, due to our situation being a rare one. My husband already has an existing residential mortgage jointly with his family members/brothers. We required a second residential mortgage and one which we could jointly own. Long story short, our broker said Accord was the best bet for this situation and they were far from it! They took months to perform and request the basics, we were being driven crazy on a daily basis being requested for every peice of information possible. There was so real logic behind certain requests. For example, they knew fully well that my husband was a perm and I was on a maternity contract, as within a week of taking up their service we both had sent our current contracts. Yet it didnt appear to initially be an issue. Towards the end of our horror story, being dragged through requests after requests often ridiculous one's such as bank statements from two years back, we had our final blow. I was not even 3 months into my maternity contract and they wanted evidence of an extention or promise of continuation of employment beyond that contract. Barbaric! They did that knowing fully well that it was a request I couldnt fulfill. They even spoke to my former employers and had them send all sorts, from invoices to a letter proving I worked for them. We still ploughed on.
Eventually, we pulled the plug and went for halifax who sorted it out in an instant! We can move on with our lives now and have the home we deserve but I get goosebumps to think that had we waited we would have no doubt lost out on our home. To think we were in their sinking boat two months ago is horrible but I hope people take heed of the reviews here before it is too late.
