“Very poor ethics, terrible product, awful customer...”

My wife and I bought our first home with Barratts and at first every thing seemed to be ok.

16 months down the line however things look very different. After the road outside flooded and the backed up sewage and overflow came into our house 8 times we investigated and found that this was well known to Barratts beforehand yet nothing was done about it and we were never told. Their excuse is that it is not a flood zone. They accept no responsibility and even though the problem has still not been fixed continue to accept no responsibility. We now live with sandbags permanently outside our door and are terrified every time it rains heavily as all our possessions could be ruined once again. This is not even mentioning the health risks to us and our 9 month old daughter who I feel should not be subjected to filthy sewage water covering everything she plays with and puts in her mouth. We cannot resell the house yet and obviously when we do the value will be a fraction of what we paid due to the flooding problems.

I have written to them many times about this and they simply ignore the emails or promise to get back to me and then never do. It has taken me 9 months of constant emailing to even get the meagre response I have had and for them to confirm that the problem has not been fixed meaning we are likely to be flooded again at any minute.

In addition to this, the damage caused to the grounds has not even been cleared up as the property management they have saddled us with are literally the worst company in the UK (according to All Agents.co.uk). This is a company so corrupt and shockingly bad that every single company in the UK is ranked better than them. They have not EVER done any work whatsoever on my part of the property, have admitted this and yet are still demanding exorbitant fees of over £20 per month. I have tried to bring this up to Barratt but after 9 months of constant writing have still not even received a reply on this issue.

I wish I had never heard of Barratts or this awful property they have lumbered me with.
