“Auto Europe - Avoid!”

I had loads for problems with Auto-Europe when trying to hire a car for my parents in Croatia.
I've never used such terrible service and just want to make sure other customers won't through the same experience.

Auto Europe looks much cheaper than the others at first, but some extra fees will make it cost the same.

In a comparison website I've managed to find a car without this extra fee and went for it, but I suspect this deal never existed.

They send me a spam like email, which I ignored, and as I haven't replied to it, they cancelled my reservation without telling me.

We have realised it when try to pick up the car in Croatia and the reservation didn't exist.

According to Auto car they wanted me to send a copy of some documents as an anti fraud policy... They also mentioned that the car hire company didn't have any car available, which I founded rather strange.

I have sent the document and after 1h in the phone with an attendant, they have re-arrange the reservation for the next day without any extra fee as my original booking.
I have provided my full contact details and made it clear at that point that they all communication should be with me using those contact details.

Having tough Auto Europe has sorted all out and was now in the case, I sent over the information to my parents so they can have the car for the rest of their trip.

My parents arrived at car hire company and again, no reservation in our name!!
Avant Car hasn't received a request from Auto Europe and there was no car was available for them.

Calling Auto Europe has been just frustrating! They insisted they try to contact me to say they had just found out there was no car available without the extra-fee, so they had to cancel my request, again without telling me. But they could 'help me' with another booking if I agree to pay the fee.

I obviously didn't agree with that and ended using a trusted company, that in fact costed the same, but would have been without the hassle.

Buy it cheap, buy it twice!


In short:
1. Auto Europe has a terrible communication channel that relies on the customer to keep checking emails and phoning them back (calls takes at list 30 min). Absolutely pointless if you are abroad, at the airport or trying to find your reservation at the car hire company.

2. The service doesn't try to help customers at all, much on the contrary. Is it like they really don't care if anything goes wrong as long as they try to you phone once (in the wrong telephone number)

3. I suspect Auto Europe was cheating from the beginning. They use the policy of tricking customers to believe they are cheaper, but add extra fees at the end of the booking. As I found a deal without the extra fee, they have just tried to make me pay either way by making my experience just horrible.

4. If you want good service and efficiency there are plenty of other companies to use. Avoid this one!
