“Worse Decision i ever made”

written by HHBS on 13/04/2015

A U switch agent informed me of Dual and over the phone i agreed to a contract with Dual Energy over from N Power, unfortunately Dual Energy took over my energy in Dec 2014.

I Normally pay my bills every 3 months and was informed i could still do it this way even on a prepay meter. They tried to take £900 on Feb 3rd (1 1/2 months after i had been with them) lucky for me i called my bank (nationwide) and cancelled the direct debit 30th Jan so the money wasn't able to leave my acct.

i have been in my property just over 7 months before i signed to Dual Energy and had paid £400 in total for the whole 7 months so how dual energy tried to charge me £450 a month, i have no clue.

I called Dual Energy and was told someone would get back to me regarding my meter readings. after a could of weeks i didn't contact dual energy i waited for them to contact me, i have called them too many times off my mobile and it was really annoying me.

I then get a call off a company saying they are fitting the prepay meter and they will do a meter read. I'm thinking great they will finally sort this meter read problem (they were trying to say i was giving incorrect meter reads as it was too low). Boy was i wrong! Dual energy fitted the meter and i then got a email about disconnection. i phoned them and again we had the meter reading issue and her telling me i owe around £1500. HA! the lady tells me she will confirm with the guy who came out. He informed her my readings were correct she told me i was only £400 in debt and i will pay it weekly over 8 weeks. i said that's fine. 3 days later my electric goes off. i called dual energy in order for them to put it back on "i must pay £150". i pay it. Takes 8 hours for it to comeback on, all customers lost that day.

A week later i get another email, call them straight away to be informed i have to pay £65 a week. dual energy take £7 a day for the debt and i use £2 a day. LOL yes they take 3.5x what I'm using per day... so fast forward to where i am now...i inform dual energy i cannot afford to pay £65 a week i get told we can spread the debt over 12 weeks instead. i said fine. my electric goes off....I'm told if i don't pay £145 it wont go back on. i don't have it so its still off. guy on the phone complete door nob ends up hanging up on me.

I email customer services to be told: "Eight weeks is the standard time that these plans run. During this time you will be paying for your upfront electricity usage and arrears. For customers that have very high arrears we do often extend the plan over twelve weeks but considering your balance do not feel this is necessary in your case.

Please call in to make a payment of £154.67 to re-energise your meter as soon as possible and we will get you reconnected as soon as we can"

In 24 Hours it has now did its daily increase although Dual know I'm not using the energy because they have cut off my electric. so i email back and say

"although dual energy are not seeing the arrears as "Very high" they are very high in comparison to the business and compared to the £2.21p (average) consumption the business is using. Dual Energy are taking £7+ a day which is 3.5x more then what the company is using on a DAILY basis.

Dual energy was not thinking about me as a customer when they "considered" my balance and felt "this was not necessary in my case. Please give me all the details i need in order to cancel any/all contracts with Dual Energy".

Saturday i raise the money to pay dual energy...and guess what? THEY ARE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY! Genius!

Monday morning (today) i receive an email back telling me that it has now increased to £185 to pay before it can be reconnected (bare in mind the debt i now owe is £212) an i can not cancel any contract i have with them as i entered a legally binding contract.

I CANNOT SAY THIS LOUD ENOUGH!!! STAY AWAY FROM DUAL ENERGY!!! I RUN A HAIR SALON WHICH CAN NOT OPEN AS WE HAVE NO ELECTRIC!!!!

We make around £80 a week after bills. we now pay £65 of that to dual energy. Unfair and ridiculous. Also adding salt to this piranha wound...Dual energy are still expecting us to pay £65 a week AFTER the debt is cleared!!!!!!!!

like i said before and i will say again, if you have any hope for your business DO NOT USE DUAL ENERGY!!!!!
