“Awful customer backup after they got the money don,t care”

written by fordman41 on 23/03/2015

We had a conservatory built by smiths in November 2012 all seemed fine at first apart from a loose brick which they had to come back to re point to pick up their final payment .
All was well until it rained hard and the roof leaked all over the kids toys and sofa ,after a phone call a guy came over and sealed the roof but the next time it rained it leaked further along and ran down the walls damaging the plaster again someone came out and sealed the roof just for it to leak again next time it rained.
Then an engineer came over and said the roof did not have a bracing beam (this is something I said to the guy who drew up the plans but was told it did not need one ?? )to support the roof from sagging it was also found that the roof opening was split and cracked that the whole conservatory was out of alignment by several degrees which is also why we had trouble shutting the doors and that the frame had been bolted on to the old original plaster so was all out of alignment .
A while later a manager came down to inspect and waited and waited for the repairs to be carried out ,in the end I called GGF Glass And Glazing Federation who got involved and within two weeks a team of four guys turned up over two days and realigned the frame renewed the roof light and refitted the trims ,as they nearly finished I was told they would have to come back to repair the plaster damaged by the water leak ,renew several plastic roof trims on the roof and replace a panel of roof glass which is visibly the wrong size.
I have rung smiths numerous times and emails only to be fobbed off with silly answers and put offs and we will call you back but never do.So again I called GGF who Smiths have ignored all their requests to finish the repairs ,I and they have yet to have a reply from Smiths so the next step we are looking down the legal route as to get the job finished to a usable standard as at present when we have friends round they all look at the plaster damage and we have to explain it down to smiths .
