“Terrible expensive experience”

Having spent some time coordinating our holiday with travelbag (weeks) via email, we finally settled on an itiniery for a U.S. road trip. We booked last Friday after Travelbag agreed to price match a Netflights package. The trip was for just under £6k. I received an email yesterday from the agent informing me that there was a 'slight problem'. It turned out that because netflights also had held flights for us when they gave me their quote and Travelbag don't actually book your seats, irrespective of you paying for them Virgin saw double seats for us. As a result they 'unheld' both sets, unbeknown to us. So what? Travelbag said that they would have to rebook our seats but the cost was now an additional £740!!! We have used Travelbag a number of time in the past, and often found a problem; in January we found out that they hadn't actually reserved our business class seats together for a holiday cruise. It was too late to do anything when we found out.

This latest debacle is the last straw. Netflights, travel Republic seem much better and their customer service outshines Travelbag hands down. I hope no one else experiences the same problems as us, but if you do you've been warned, cheaper is rarely better.
