What an excellent service this used to be! It was the first email service I ever used because someone at the library suggested it when I needed one. And it was no problem to write an email in plain text and send it. I still use it for business purposes. The one drawback was that I had to remember to check to save my sent emails but it now does that automatically. Occasionally I have to delete but that's okay. Eventually, I needed to send myself plain text emails to combine into a long one and print it out. One good thing about Hotmail: At least it still lets me send those plain text emails with no white space on the right. I can send to another email service which will let me fill as much of the page with text as possible. Other email services, if I try to send from them, will have white space that I have to manually fill, which is time-consuming.
Somewhere along the line the nearly perfect Hotmail went way downhill. The way I navigate through my email is to click on the inbox (actually, Hotmail sends me there first now, which is nice), click on each email, put it in a folder if I want or delete it if I want. But if I get sent to an email I don't want to look at, I want to click on "Back" to get back to the inbox. Or if I go to a folder and then want to go back to the inbox, click on "Back". I know, why not click on "Inbox"? Well, over time, I have learned how. But I might want to do something more complicated, such as "Search", and I'd want to find my way back. Maybe to what I searched for. Well, that would be too logical. Can't have that. And I often go to another site and come back to Hotmail. One wonders what's going to happen when I do that. Oh, and did I mentioned getting forwarded to an email that I didn't want to see? No, I wanted to go the inbox. Sometimes I get completely lost and have no idea where I am.
Oh, I mentioned my plain text emails that I send. Oh, no, I didn't say I composed them! No, Hotmail doesn't believe in plain text. No, I have to go to Excite and compose! You won't believe the nightmare I have if I copy and paste from web sites to Hotmail.
