“Extra charges”

I took out a policy via Compare the Market. I had to phone Hastings as the options in the 'boxes' did not fit my situation. The man told me there is normally a £12.50 charge for calling them, but he would waive it! I was stunned as I had no idea about this and had called their freephone number. When I received the policy information there was another charge - £20 for setting up the account. So, what started out as good value was certainly not as I had to add on charges I had not been told about. They have no contact form/email either so I need to write to them to contest the £20 charge. I daren't phone them again in case they charge me £12.50! Will be very wary when taking out insurance with any company in the future.
