“Disgraceful plumber”

We had a blocked toilet. I tried the usual stuff from a hardware shop but it didn't work. I rang Homeserve (my husband is 81 and I am approaching 75) to request a plumber. I rang HOmeserve on the Wednesday afternoon and persuaded you that Wednesday would be appreciated given we only had one toilet. Plumber 1 came in the evening and was so vigorous with the plunger that a) the toilet was jumping up and down and b)there was 'water' spreading over the bathroom floor. He continued and thought he had solved it but in fact he had disconnected the outlet pipe in the eaves from the toilet so sewerage was flooding the eaves......He asked if he could used our toilet (trick question surely!!)He used a wet vacuum and said that it needed specialist equipment and would ring a colleague to come in the next morning. He then went off to a job in Abingdon. The specialist came in the next morning. It took a longish time but in unblocking the pipe (easily accessible from the eaves which can be walked in) he dislocated a different pipe so that the sewerage came through the eaves floor into the new (!) kitchen cupboards, on to the surface and then the floor underneath.. where I was standing! He took the cupboard apart and helped to sort out what was contaminated and to be thrown out and what should be disinfected. He said that he would report the Wednesday plumber for leaving us in such a poor state. Whatever the mess the second plumber was helpful. He said it was a crappy job but an experienced plumber knows that you stay until the job is done. I would recommend the second plumber but not the first.
