I have been a member of various gyms from local leisure centres to chains (Total Fitness in the North West and Fitness4Less in London). I decided on moving back to Surrey that I would treat myself to a membership at David Lloyd rather than taking a cheaper membership elsewhere. What a disappointment! The timetable for classes in the evenings/ weekends is poor and the quality of instructors shocking. There are a couple of good instructors but these classes get busy making it hard to get a place although people seem unable to book and just turn up making classes too busy!
A recent refurb resulted in changing rooms with Molton Brown toiletries (bothered? No!) but no new machines or updates to timetables or new classes. Spinning is no longer an option as the acoustics are so bad you can't hear the instructor and nothing has been done despite lots of complaints.
As for cancellation they demand 3 months notice despite being in breach of contract by not given written notice of the increase from 1 to 3 months at the end of 12 months but I couldn't be bothered to take matters further and waste time and energy.
Take my advice save £50+ a month and join the excellent Woking Leisure a Centre, better timetable and better equipped gym and great instructors and staff. Use the money you save to buy your own Molton Brown shower gel.
