What a huge disappointment. We chose Hanmonds as we believed the hype about being a family firm. We thought this meant they would be a caring company. How wrong. In November 2014 we paid a deposit based on the design for a fitted corner unit for our bedroom. This unit was to act as an office desk plus a small bedside table. Hardly trocket science and fairly pricey but we wanted the job done well so thought it worth paying out for fitted furniture. The first fitter measured up and told us we couldn't have the design as it had been drawn. He proposed sticking a keg half way along the desk top ....! We said no thanks, it looks awful. Then we were told we could have an office desk-top fitted to the drawer units we required but not in the finish we had chosen. Then that changed and the finish we chosen suddenly became available. Hooray we thought. Then silence. In the middle of January I rang to ask what was happening. Apparently the fitter had left the company - not passed on any details and no-one at Hammonds had the courtesy to inform us. Today we had another fitter arrive who tells us we can't have the revised design because there is not enough room for the bed - fairly critical for a bedroom! Regretfully it seems to be that Hammonds simply act as an umbrella for independent designers and fitters. Designers who don't know what they are doing and fitters who don't want to fit anything that isn't "standard". They have had our deposit since November and we are back at square one. Not very happy at all! Don't use this company. I so wish I had found this site before we ordered.
