I first joined Nutracheck.co.uk in March 2009 when my weight had reached unacceptable levels to me, and I resolved to do something about it, but what?
Nutracheck helped me to think about, and remember daily what I was eating. I began to see that if I curtailed my food intake, I did manage to lose a little weight.
Then I started to compare the number of calories in different types of food. I ate what I wanted, but some of the foods I liked contained less calories than others. I began to stick to the foods I liked but which contained less calories.
The next very useful step for me was when I began to start to record the exercise I took. Even the simplest exercise, such as walking to the local shops, could be recorded. It showed up on my daily diary as a negative calorie count. Now I could see that the more exercise I took, the more food I could safely eat whilst keeping within my daily calorie limits.
I do not think that Nutracheck offers anything other than a real incentive to be diligent and consistent in recording daily food and exercise; except that, having done so for several years now, the personal bar chart offers real encouragement to me personally. I know that I am eating more sensibly than I did; and I know now that I can lose weight so long as I really want to do so.
