General Comments
Lets start with the bad points, just to get them out the way. I ordered the Final Fantasy 12 PS2 game before Christmas 2004, and I am still waiting for it, but I have devoured every piece of information about it you can possibly think of.
The story centres around 2 warring Kingdoms, with the little Kingdom of Damalasca caught right in the centre of the conflict. The usual storyboard occurs here, with the noble hero rescuing and helping the defenceless princess, bringing calm to the Kingdoms once again. With a medley of friends ranging from a rabbit-type creature (ring any bells), and a big fat warrior type (again, bells are ringing... Final Fantasy 9 anyone?), they all set about turning the world back to right.
I wouldn't say this is particularly a negative, because it's nice to be comfortable with characters and it brings a nice sense of camaraderie to the gameplay, I think.
From the screenshots and the video sequences I have seen, Final Fantasy 12 will blow away all other RPGS/Adventure games, and will make the other games pale by comparison. Again, in DVD format, there's a lot of space for gaming and graphics on the disc, without one being any better or worse than the other. Both will be flawless.
For gaming addicts, it will be difficult to prise ourselves from the seat of our chairs as we battle our way through territories, seeking out enemies to destroy, and who will ultimately destroy us in our quest to save the Kingdoms. Monsters appear on the screen as you walk through the game, which gives you the chance to give them a wide berth, or to approach them for battle. The only difference is that sometimes the monsters will actually chase you, so there is no way out of a battle. If there are more than a few monsters in one area, the best idea will be to fight them one at a time upon approach, because if they chase you, they will certainly gang up on you, and if you are not strong enough, you're going down!!
I don't know about the saving aspect of it, but I imagine it will probably use save spheres rather than allow you to save whilst you are out wandering the world, because that's not much of a challenge is it?
There's not much more I can say because I am still waiting for it, but I've said more than the others have, so I hope it helps. Thanks for reading.
