Had my Remeha Avanta Plus 24s serviced every year since it was installed just five and a half years ago. Boiler had broken down on New Year's Day (although as I'd been away for Christmas, it could have been broken for longer) with E5 fault, turned off & re-set several times & got it going again. Had E5 fault several times since.
Thought I'd get its next service (due February/March) done early and fault fixed at the same time, but Remeha said no - couldn't come out to do a service (90 pounds) without charging 290 pounds to come out to the fault first. Another boiler repair company came to the rescue (they've done three of its services in the past) to do the service and fault at the same time. But they didn't bring the 'service kit' I'd asked for (I was initially told by Remeha that such a kit MUST be used to maintain the warranty). The engineer checked things (pressures etc), tweaked some stuff and said it didn't look as though there was anything wrong, but arranged to come back to do the service the following week. Over that week I had an E4 fault (did reset) and then an E10 fault (I put more water in). Now the company has said that Remeha want 145 pounds for the service kit (as well as the charge for the service) and that it hasn't been ordered yet.
Will this service kit fix the intermittent E5 and E4 problems? (I haven't had the E10 problem since I put more water in, but don't know if E5, E4 & E10 could be connected). I don't even know what's in the service kit. Does anybody know? As the engineer hasn't yet been back and it looks as though it will be another week, I'd appreciate an engineer's opinion on whether this will fix the problems.
Also, is there any company that will accept these Remeha Avanta Plus boilers on a 'boiler maintenance' insurance-type contract, as I'm told they've got quite a bad name now.
