“Forced to Pay for a Room Then Forbidden to Use It”

The online system at reservationcounter let me "cancel" my hotel because I was too sick to travel. After I cancelled, it said my credit card had already been charged because it was too late to cancel. I called Reservation Counter customer service, and they confirmed the online system should not have let me cancel because it was too late. I said fine, and asked them to undo my cancellation so that another family member could use the room. After a long hold they informed me that I could not longer use the room because I cancelled it, but that my credit card would still be charged for the room. Idiots. I found out later that Reservation County just booked my room through Expedia.
