“Made a booking mistake and was not helped to amend it”

I have a very young baby and made the mistake of booking an unsuitable apartment. I immediately tried to cancel or change the booking but was put through to a french operator who said the t&cs are what they are and I should have read first. So I will never book with house Trip again.
