“Really disappointing Christmas dinner at the William Owen”

written by JacnJusMam on 21/11/2014

Had Christmas dinner out during a shopping trip today with my husband and teenage daughter. We all have healthy appetites and have had many nice meals at this establishment. Today, however the Christmas dinner was appalling.....We all left food on our plates,my husband and daughter left about half of theirs, I left the majority of mine, which is not like me. The problems.....The extra gravy supplied in a small jug was cold so I sent that back immediately.....Little did I know that was the least of my problems, the carrots and sprouts were all really rubbery and tasted as though they had been soaked in vinegar!!!! Peas were ok but not piping hot, turkey very watery and the Yorkshire pudding was stone cold. The roast potatoes and pigs in blankets were nice though!!!! This is the second time I've had issues with cold food here. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm afraid we won't be going back again. Today there were only three of us but when the whole family is together there can be up to ten of us.
Real shame that the food was so disappointing because the staff at this establishment are always very friendly, polite and helpful. My rating for value for money reflects the fact that we left our food due to the poor quality. I'm perfectly aware that this is a "budget establishment" but if the food is too bad to eat the value for money goes out the window!!!!
