I searched the internet for a ‘Canon EF 24mm f2.8 IS USM Lens’, they were selling for approximately £456; some suppliers were discounting for £412. On Google, I found Cathedral Cameras discounting by over 55%; linking to their internet page brought up, ‘Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens’ along with a picture of the lens that I was after at £141.06.
I noted the Product Model: 5345B005AA and went on to Canon UK web site. I could not find a ‘Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens’ in their list of EF lenses. Searching for Product Model: 5345B005AA on Canon UK brought up the lens that I wanted to purchase.
I went back to Cathedral Cameras web site and purchased one lens, the lens was currently out of stock – available usually 2 to 4 days; the order was accepted, I paid through Amazon Payments.
Waiting 2 days I went on their site for a dispatch date, the advert was the same as when I purchased the lens. After 3 days I went on their site and the description had changed to ‘Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens’, 1 in stock.
Nobody rang to say they had made a mistake; I waited a couple of days. My order had not yet been dispatched and they still had one lens in stock.
I rang their ‘NEED HELP? WE'RE AVAILABLE AT’ phone number and spoke to Xxxxxx. I asked about the order, he agreed they had made a mistake; they were sourcing a ‘Canon EF-S 24mm STM lens’ to send me. Being reasonable (anyone can make a mistake), I suggested they cancelled the order, which Xxxxxx was eager to do. Xxxxxx agreed that they could sell me the ‘Canon EF 24mm f2.8 IS USM Lens’ that I wanted for £412, as the other supplier discounts had finished while I was waiting on my order to be fulfilled. He said he would phone me back after getting the authorisation from his manager. I did not get that call back.
Today, I phoned Cathedral Cameras and asked Xxxxxx could I still purchase the lens at the agreed price, during the conversation I asked why he had not phoned me back, he answered his line manager had forgot to get back to him. I asked could I speak to his line manager and he hung-up the phone. I tried to ring back to complain, he is not receiving my calls….
They made a mistake, people do; it is what people do to correct their mistakes that counts.
Cathedral Cameras did not phone me when they realised they advertised the lens wrong.
They tried to send me a cheaper lens with a different product model.
They promised to phone me back, so I might purchase the lens I wanted; they did not phone.
When I asked to speak to the line manager; they hung up
They will not receive my calls
