“Terrible 'dodgy' company”

written by KhloeCox481 on 08/11/2014

I sadly have to agree with most of the other reviewers.

I contacted Fox and Sons to view some properties with them and immediately they were more interested in selling me a mortgage than letting me see the properties. I explained that I needed to port my existing mortgage due to an early repayment charge and after some resistance, I finally managed to get my viewings booked in.

It was two weeks before they could fit me in for viewings, shocking really as I had sold my house so was 'ready to offer' if I found somewhere.

At every viewing I went to over a period of two weeks, the agent was late without so much as an apology, we nearly left at one point thinking she wasn't turning up.

When we did find a property we liked, I phoned Fox and Sons to make an offer of the asking price. I was then told that my offer couldn't be considered unless I saw their mortgage advisor. I explained again that I was porting my existing mortgage and had an agreement in principle so could prove I was able to proceed but she told me that unless I saw their mortgage advisor, my offer couldn't be put forward.

To try and get around this I agreed to see them and said to please put my offer through in the meantime. I then had a call back 10 minutes later to say that they weren't passing on my offer as it was too low and I would need to immediately increase it. I refused and asked that they put forward my asking price offer and they said they wouldn't as they already knew the vendor wouldn't be interested. I was then told that they had booked me to see their mortgage advisor the following day at a location 25 miles away because they were in a different office. I refused to see them.

I decided to go and knock on the vendors door a week later, she had not been passed my asking price offer and was shocked that buyers offers weren't being put forward to her.

I went on to make a complaint to the property ombudsman to say they hadn't passed on my offer and were trying to force me to see their mortgage advisor. Then two weeks later, Fox and Sons sent me a backdated letter outlining my offer and it stated that I withdrew it shortly after making it. This was not true as they had refused to pass it on so clearly this was done to try and cover themselves as a result of my complaint.

I now refuse to view or offer on any properties with Fox and Sons. It is no wonder than other Estate Agents listing are all 'sale agreed' yet Fox and Sons are all still available. They aren't acting in the interest of sellers or buyers.

To summarise what they are doing

-Making potential buyers wait a long time before being able to view

-Are late for viewings

-Not passing on offers to vendors even if they are asking price and trying to force you to increase your offer first

-Refusing to put forward your offer unless you see their mortgage advisor

-Not phoning for feedback after viewings to be passed on to the vendor

-Sending out false letters to cover themselves when you complain about them
