“Words escape me”

Written on: 27/10/2014 by tony.84 (1 review written)

I signed up with http://34sp.com at the beginning of August 2014.

After having issues with my previous host I went on the hunt for a firm small enough to be able to speak to someone rather than a call centre but large enough to not be a 14 year old in his bedroom running a business. I also looked for a local firm - trying to support local companies where I can.

All started well, I spoke to someone got signed up and they helped me with my emails and site and moving it all over - happy days... or so I thought.

Within a week there was an issue where emails went down for at least 24 hours and I could not get access for 48 hours - it was a major technical issue from what I can gather one that they struggled with. Fair enough, these things happen. I spoke to someone on day one about my emails to find out if they would be stored somewhere and then filter through when back up and running or if they would be gone forever (what I wanted to know was do I need to amend the email addresses on my website whilst this was resolved). I was told they would filter through once up and running.

Day 2, I am still unable to access my emails so I called up and they had changed the support lines to a callback service!!! I can only assume there were too many calls to cope with.

Eventually all resolved. No emails coming through so I called up and was told they were gone. Their great idea... ask people to re-send! not being a psychic I have no idea who sent me an email. Many of which would have been automated with updated on various clients business - which meant I had to make a lot of phone calls and lost out on who knows how much business.

I stuck with them after this for some reason... I may be one of those people who likes pain and pays for it?

Next issue, I get an email telling me im due to make a payment (im not, I have been with them less than 30 days and already made 2 payments). I call up and speak to a lady there (I wont put her name here) and advise her my account is saying I have 2 payments outstanding?! So she says she will sort it out and remove them. I ask whether my emails/website will go down on the 5th September. She assures me not.

True to her word, the warning messages went and my website/emails didnt go down on the 5th... they went down on the 6th!!! 6th September, a saturday. So I call up again (If I never hear the cow song or the pink panther again it will be too soon) and I get told nothing they can do until monday - I kick up a fuss and they get my website back up but no emails. So I update my website so my emails get sent somewhere else as an interim fix. I get told it will be sorted monday.

Monday comes and I leave it until about 10.30 to give them some time and nothing! So I call up and get put on hold in a queue for 30 minutes. Eventually I speak to a manager or someone and within 10 minutes he has it resolved. Fantastic - my emails that may or may not have gone missing? You guessed it, ask people to resend them. Im still not a psychic.

Aside from that in the space of 2-3 months I noticed my emails down a good 4-5 times possibly more. They use their own admin panel which means when you do want to move over to a decent provider who uses cpanel like EVERYONE else - they have a few issues making it difficult to leave without it being a headache.

I genuinely am gutted to say this as I would have liked to have help support a local company rather than slate them but god knows how they are still in business! I want to call them amateurs but I dont think they are which in itself is even more worrying.
