“The best new indies are stage 7s stage nine base...”

written by Graham Baker on 13/08/2008

Good Points
Stage 7s were the best new indy base plates are as strong as stage 5 and 6 base plates stage seven hangers as strong as stage 6 hangers base plates stronger at the front for nose and tail slides good for technical skating.

Bad Points
I find all new indies too low the rubbers are hard to get in paticularily as I have aspergers syndrome and have problems with co-ordination they also turn too sharp the kingpins in stage 7s and early stage eights bend and or break more easily stage 8 hanger also bend I feel all new indies are a bad design as it is hard to get the rubbers in I prefer the original higher stage 6s I find them more comfortable to ride than new school indies I would not ever buy new school indies again until they reissue an original high indy that is as high as an old school indy I find all new school indies too low even high indies are lower than original old school stage 5s and stage 6s even the wider indies are just low indies with wider hangers even ace trucks are lower than all the original higher trucks of the seventies and eighties it is about time a truck company reissued a higher truck with the original longer kingpins and larger truck rubbers not all skaters do technical tricks I do basic old school tricks and just cruise. I also find old school truck give more stability when turning.

General Comments
The best new indies are stage 7s stage nine base plates break easily stage 8 hangers bend easily and sometimes break if I were to buy new school indies again I would get stage 7s. Stage 6s are the best old school indy I would buy a second hand set of stage 6 149s or 159s as you can occassoinaly still get second hand indies. Stage 6s are very strong but very heavy but fine for me as I am an old school and do not do flip tricks so do not need a low truck.
