“A great price for the holiday and a very enjoyable...”

written by LDMurray on 14/10/2014

There were varying reviews for the Reina Cristina hotel in Algeciras but we decided to make up our own minds when we arrived. I was pleasantly surprised as the décor is not at all in need of updating - it is a colonial hotel so I would expect the fashions to be in keeping with the period. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and there was a nice feel about the place. The hotel guest list is more mature so if you are a 30s clubber avoid. The hotel provides an ideal spot for travelling out to Gibraltar, Ronda, Cadiz, Tarifa so there is plenty to do plus it's close to the bus and train stations and we picked up a hire car just down the road from the hotel.
Two things for the hotel management to focus on is the menu (if you have a beef stroganoff you should also have plain rice for example) so thinking this through is wise. But the themed menu idea for some nights was good. Also, how about a Tapas night? The second is the number of staff, the bar can get very busy on a Friday night when the locals come to enjoy the live music so more staff please. Otherwise, I enjoyed the holiday immensely and for the price I paid I really cannot complain. The service Fleetway provided was very efficient and I would use them again.
