I have never booked overseas car rental before and, having heard of horror stories, was a little apprehensive. However my sister had used economy car hire previously and said that they were very good, and very easy to get to from the airport.
The rental prices were keen for the smaller cars and I chose the smallest since I wasn't likely to be doing much mileage and I wasn't sure what premium I was likely to pay for the fuel.
The only downside is that you pay for the full tank of fuel, with no refund for any unused. In the case of the Fiat 500 I was charged 79 euros which is the equivalent of £1.80/litre. However, think of it as a sensible 5 day car hire cost of £130 with a free tank of fuel and it sits more comfortably!
So, for car hire at Barcelona, would I choose economy car hire again?
Every time. Hope this helps you to decide.
