“inhumane and uncaring and confused staff”

Be very careful of the small print!
I was mugged recently in Romania. I ended up in hospital and my mobile phone was taken. Unable to speak Romanian with very few Romanians able to speak English I had to hire interpreters to enable me to speak with the police and also my carers. The small print does not cover interpreters.
AXA refused to pay for the cheapo mobile I bought so I could communicate with their Emergency Services in Spain.
Furthermore they would not pay for damage to my dentures which I had repaired in the UK -they said too bad you could have had them repaired in Romania whereas I was unable to put them into my badly bruised mouth for several days after returning home.
Oh yes they think that you have to eat so they do not cover any food while you are waiting for their Emergency Services to agree to allow you to return home.
Contacting AXA Emergency Services is farcical as each time you phone they have a new person and some hardly speak English - they also fail to phone back even when the they said they would do so.
Conclusion - beware of the small print and do not expect this insurance company to give you full cover!!
