Our holiday began very badly as a result of the service provided. There was no-one to meet us at the airport and give us our car. After half-an-hour we rang the car rental firm and there was no answer on the phone. We continued to ring and eventually after an hour or more someone answered the phone. A Greek person had to help us get through. We were told someone was on their way to give us the car. We waited another half-hour, still no-one arrived. We rang again and were told someone was on their way. After two hours standing around in the airport someone arrived and confusingly tld us that there was no car, tried to give as some money and told us to go to another car rental service to pick up a new booking. We made him come with come with us. Realising we had to a get another car from another car hire firm, we accepted this new booking, but were tied down to their rates, over which we had no control, such as extra insurance and extra driver insurance. The representative who claimed he was covering the extra cost, though we couldn't fathom the ins-and-outs of this, told us Argus were responsible for the deposit we paid, and wouldn't give us a refund on payment received of 68 Euros. Argus, or Car Trawler, whoever, have been less than eager to respond to the issues in a speedy and efficient way and so far have refused us a refund on our deposit.
