“Holiday in Sardinia from Fleetway Travel ”

written by Reviewnightmares on 23/09/2014

Disappointing. Stayed at the Budoni Beach Hotel which was not in Budoni. The area was undeveloped so you HAD to have a car if you wanted to eat in the evening. Taxis few and far between and had to be booked in advance both ways! Only local place claiming to be open to non residents didn't really want to be bothered with guests from outside their hotel and the food was poor. Budoni Beach Hotel offered daily beach kit of towel and umbrella, the first one was free but we were told there was a charge for subsequent towels and a beach umbrella meant rummaging through a barrel to find one which was not broken. There was a kettle in the room but not the tea and coffee making which was on the initial information. Perhaps I should have read between the lines a little more but I expected a pool. There wasn't one and the 'beautiful' beach was shared with a hotel who had their own DJ belting out the tunes! It was also covered with seaweed and close to a lake which resulted in a strong sulphurous smell.

To get to Budoni Beach was a 40 minute walk along the shore and through pinewoods over the headland. A lovely walk and when we got there a beach with somewhere to eat and drink, and a clean.. But not everyone would want to do that walk each day. A taxi was about 11 euros each way to Budoni and as I said earlier needed to be booked in advance.

However the two young girls who manned the reception desk were excellent. They were extremely helpful, even to the extent of offering to come to collect us when we were unable to get a taxi back from Budoni at 8 o'clock on a Sunday night. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. They were cleaned daily to a high standard. The grounds were pretty and kept tidy.

The hotel closes for the winter at the end of September and one of the staff had left at the end of August so the two remaining staff were having to cover reception, provide the breakfasts and manage the cleaning staff. They were only young and carried their responsibility well.
