My dog had meningitis when he was 9 months old, and from which he recovered against all the odds. He did however develop a weakened immune system and allergies. He is currently on immunotherapy injections once a month and has wipes and drops etc. All the treatments that he is able to have mean that his conditions are now easily managed for him. He will need to have these treatments for the rest of his life probably, but because we had access to dermatologists and the excellent services of Langford Veterinary school. He is a very happy smooth haired Viszlar, you'd never know there was anything wrong!. We are extremely glad that we insured him with Petplan. It enabled us to always be able to provide him with the best care possible. He has a policy which promises life time cover for all his conditions. Petplan aren't the cheapest pet insurers, but we feel the support, quick payments, and level of cover is absolutely worth the money. Our lovely boy would have cost us, to date, around 5k. He's worth every penny of course!! The other side of the deal is we also insure his brother and sister with Petplan, they are fit as can be. We never have to claim for them but I'd never stop their insurance, just in case.
