“Dont waste your money”

I took out a policy with Saga earlier this year and unfortunately had to make a claim for a problem with my left foot. At the time I took out the policy I had no problem with it. I made the initial claim telephone call the adviser gave me a claim number to use. A few days later Saga requested copy of my medical records for the last 3 years which were provided, proving there was no history of any previous problem with that foot. I went ahead and saw the consultant and had an X-ray which revealed the problem. I reported this back to Saga together with a copy of the consultants letter to my GP outlining the diagnose and proposed treatment. Saga then responded refusing the claim on the basis that I had had a problem in my right foot previously so they considered this was a "related problem" and it had occurred within the last 3 years. My consultant said the problem is not related but apparently Saga's staff know more than him. Presumably this means that if you break your right arm or leg, then the left arm or leg is not covered as it is "related" . I have now had to pay out just under £500 for the consultations and tests already done, paid the monthly insurance premiums and have got absolutely nothing out of my hard earned pension. Complete waste of money and I have now cancelled the policy as there is no point in paying for a service you cannot receive. My advice is dont be deceived by the sales pitch, i was previously insured by another major health insurance provider, it cost me more but at least they paid up!
