My mother had a party for her 80th birthday and I, together with friends presented her with bouquets of flowers. The two from Marks and Spencers, including the bouquet I purchased, were dying the next day. At least half the Fair Trade roses in my bouquet were dead and the Agapanthus in the bouquet from one of her friends had dropped all of the flowers within hours. Bouquets from florists and other stores, such as Waitrose and Tesco were all still beautiful days later. I telephoned M&S Customer Services to enquire as to the procedure for complaints about flowers and was met with a very officious and uncaring response.
