“ hidden penalty fees”

I recently had cause to call for assistance as my car would not start. I was told I would be charged £98.40 call out if I cancelled the call out (which at the time didn't register as I was in a bit of a panic trying to get to an appointment) I managed to start the car myself while waiting for help to arrive and like an idiot (as I realise now) rang to cancel the call out.
I was informed as they were on their way the cancellation fee would apply.
Nowhere in the terms and conditions is there any mention of such a penalty.So if you have a policy or are thinking of taking one out BEWARE!
