“Bit of a mare!”

written by Tom-Plumb on 08/08/2014

I run an installation company and rarely use bathstore through advise given from other fitters, on this occasion however my customer purchased the bathrooms after having design by a bathstore designer. First day if installation I found the shower tray to not be fit for use but just to be sure I contacted the tech department at bathstore, very pleasant guy but unfortunately he didn't have much of a clue so to be on the safe side and bit to void warranty I purchased a tray suitable for the job (2 days lost). Come to install the toilet to find again not suitable for the job, this toilet has to be fitted with the waste going straight out of the wall, we need one for side exit, either way it was broken in two so had to order another (another day lost). Installing the splash panels which in my opinion are over priced as they are still using mdf which is old technology being sold for more than the newest tech available. After trying to read instructions that are barely visible due to being photocopied so many times I cut and installed two panels as instructed. Last panel and as with the previous checked over the face for defects and no problems. Cut the board to shape carry it to the bathroom and in to position, peel back the protective film along the edge in order to insert into the joining channel just to find a huge dent in the side of it, even though protective film and plastic edging were in perfect condition (obviously packaged that way). I have beentold I need to purchase another as it should of been checked within 48 hours. My customer has spent 7k with bathstore, incompetent designer has cost me time and money, they even supplied her with a shower pump when she has mains pressure. All of this and now I have to purchase another panel? It's a joke and I am only half way through the ensuite, I have a master bathroom and cloak room to do straight after, all from bath store and I am dreading it. Nice friendly staff, bad management it seems.
