We have been loyal members of LA Fitness for 3 years. We were not given any notice whatsoever from LA Fitness that our local gym had been sold to Sports Direct, until my husband and I had walked in to use the gym and saw staff in Sports Direct uniforms who were handing out letters to say "Welcome to Sports Direct". This was on 11th July. On 1st July, we took out a corporate membership to use all LA Fitness clubs, only now to be told by LA Fitness Corporate that our local gym no longer belongs to them and that "we will not be issuing a refund" refusing to help any further whatsoever. We are now locked into a contract for LA Fitness gyms that we will never even use. The conversation with LA Fitness Corporate reflected very poor customer service, with a focus more on LA Fitness' commercials over and above customers. Certainly an unforgettable service. I found Sports Direct to be much more understanding of my needs as a customer (and I'm not even their customer). Based on the reviews below, it sounds like LA Fitness from Corporate levels right through to local gyms would benefit from improving their customer services somewhat.
