“Excellent short break”

We spent a three night break at La Gare Hotel on the island of Murano which is a short way out from Venice itself. The hotel was outstandingly good, Murano is delightful with excellent canal scenery and some excellent restaurants. Venice was dreadful, heaving with visitors and offering general pandemonium, so the peace and quiet of the hotel was more than welcome.

Fleetways arrangements were good. My only suggestion would be rather more information about finding the right embarkment point for the trip across to the island on first arrival and more information about how the water bus system works in detail. The numbers, the correct tickets and payment methods are complicated and some advance information on this would be helpful.

The hotel has its own boat service and more information on exactly how this works would also be useful. We were not clear, for example, whether the boat would be able to pick us up on arrival or whether we would have to rely on public transport.

Otherwise and enjoyable holiday that worked well.
